How to create a website

There are lots of reasons for wanting to create a website:

You want to communicate your knowledge of information, opinions and experience with your customers, clients or friends?

Let's face it - it's a cheap form of advertising which is available to everyone 24 hours a day.

Your homepage is the first thing people will see, so its important that their first impression is a memorable one. You want them coming back don't you?

Make it obvious what your site is about.

People are searching for information everyday and they're looking for answers to their questions. Whether they are school children researching for an assignment, or just surfing for something to do. They want one thing, good quality content. It is also beneficial if your pages are easy to read with a user friendly layout.

Keep the tone of your website the same

Whether you have 5 pages or 500 pages it's important to ensure that when each page is visited that its easy to navigate around. Consistency is the key here because people will become confused if your pages look different from each other and they have to think too much about how to navigate around. Keep it simple!

Don't advertise everything

Remember your content here, you're trying to tell the world that your site has something of value to them. Don't clutter it with too many unrelated advertisements. You will only put people off from coming back.

Content and Keywords

Once the initial tasks are complete, you're now ready to start promoting your business by creating a website with value-adding content.

For Google and the other search engines to find your site you need to consider writing quality content pages that contain 'Keywords'. Keywords are words and phrases that are directly relevant to your content and will enable the search engines to spider through them and rate it. If you're going to add links make sure that they're relevant. (i.e. my site Cash Flow into Action is all about advising small business owners like you to manage their business cash flow. Do you think then that I would have links or content on my website which discusses knitting?, I don't think so.)
